Description
English: Inyo tonestus (Tonestus peirsonii), closeup of flower showing the short, curling, bright yellow ray flowers, a very large involucre below the flower with bracts that grade into small stem leaves, lower toothed leaves wider toward the end, and dried remnants of previous-year leaves. This is a local plant endemic to the mountains of Inyo and Fresno counties of California, in this case at 10,400 ft (3,200 m) tucked into the cliffs above Long Lake, Little Lakes Valley, John Muir Wilderness, Sierra Nevada USA.
