Introduced, warm-season, perennial, leafy grass, to 1.5 m (mostly less than 1 m) tall
and with well-developed stolons. A native of Africa, it is found mostly along roadsides
and in drains north of Kempsey, but is also
occasionally sown in pastures. Increasingly common further north and towards the coast as it is a tropical grass that prefers more than 1500 mm rainfall.
