Name

Hemirhamphodon byssus Tan & Lim, 2013

Type locality: Sarawak, Matang Wildlife Centre [1], Sungai Rayu.

Etymology: The specific name is from the Latin byssus, meaning fine thread, in allusion to the distinct filamentous dorsal-fin rays of large males.
