Schlumpberger (2012) classification is followed here, dividing the subtribe in many monophyletic genera. This might not be generally followed in the future, in favour of a large Echinopsis sens. lat. including most genera in the subtribe. However, as today, a great deal of the generally accepted species lack combinations under Echinopsis. Uleli (talk) 20:50, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

However, the segregation of Echinopsis sensu Schlumpberger (2012) is itself highly controversial and should not have been undertaken c.f. Anceschi & Magli (2013) and for a synopsis see Hernández-Ledesma (2015). The most conservative approach, based upon Hunt (2006), Hernández-Ledesma (2015) and generic circumscriptions in COL, should have been retained until consensus has been reached. However, I will not edit out the problem. Andyboorman (talk) 16:03, 28 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
