Name

[edit]
  • Loxomerus huttoni (Broun in Hutton, 1902)
    • Authority for current combination: Broun, 1909: 94
    • Original combination: Euthenarus huttoni
    • Primary type: holotype
      • Fixation: unique
      • Description: adult female [incorrectly originally stated to be male]
      • Repository: CMNZ
    • Type locality: Epigwaitt, the site of the wreck of the Grafton, in North Arm, Carnley Harbour
    • NOTES: Brookes (1951: 22) considered this species to be a synonym of Calathosoma rubromarginatum, based on comparison of the holotype of the former with an identified specimen of the latter (det. Dr. G. Larsson). The alleged synonymy was subsequently rejected by Johns (1974: 292), based on reexamination of the same two specimens, the latter of which does appear to have been correctly identified by Larsson, so the fault would appear to have been with Brookes' judgement.
